    PHYSIOTHERAPIST & HEALTH COACH

BPTHY, MHPrac (Rehabilitation), PREKURE Certified Health Coach

I am the founder of Evexia Health & Performance. I am an experienced Physiotherapist and Certified Health Coach. I am also a wife to Dean, and mum to my two girls, Emily & Sophie.

Over my career I’ve worked in clinical hospital positions, private practice clinics, training, mentoring and regional management positions. I have spent many years working with clients with a wide variety of injuries, health concerns or life events that have knocked them off track.

One of my biggest learnings through all of this, is that we cannot take our health for granted. The foundations of our health and the pillars of performance differ by degree, not kind. Optimising our lifestyle habits, regardless of our starting point, are a key part of maximising our potential to perform in this game of life.

But life is busy right? Putting these practices into place is no easy task in this modern day world. I know first hand how hard it is to juggle all the balls in the air. We are also bombarded by information about what we “should” be doing to stay healthy, so it can be difficult to decide what is the right choice for you. Most often, we overlook the simple things in favour of something that sounds more flashy, more promising, or the quicker option.

My promise to you is that I am here to keep it simple, to help you show up as the best version of you, without sacrificing your health in the process. I am passionate about helping you to optimise your health, so you can perform at your best and really enjoy the things that matter most to you in life. If you’re willing to put in the work from your end too, then we’re going to make a great team!

    HEALTH PSYCHOLOGIST

B.A, MSC HLTH Psych (Hons), PGDIP HLTH Psych

I’m a New Zealand registered psychologist and I graduated from the University of Auckland with a post-graduate diploma in health psychology in 2007. I’ve worked across a range of hospital, general practice, and rehabilitation settings in both New Zealand and Australia. I’m specialised in supporting people to recover from injury and manage chronic pain, so a lot of my work has been focussed on helping people to overcome stress, anxiety and depression as they navigate these challenges.

My practice draws on CBT, ACT and Mindful Self-Compassion. I draw Eastern philosophy together with Western practices to support people to understand where their values lie, gain self-awareness, and apply coping tools with flexibility and confidence.

I’m passionate about translating psychological knowledge into easily accessible learnings for effective change. I believe that arming people with knowledge and insight will give them the base from which to consistently access simple tools to promote wellbeing. Seeing people have ‘ah-ha’ moments and gain efficacy in their own skills really makes me tick.

The rates of anxiety and depression in New Zealand are high and I have also experienced personal struggle. In 2013 my life circumstances changed dramatically, stress increased and my previously relied upon strategies no longer cut it. Learning to swim was about building resilience with a variety of tools thrown into my toolkit. It is from this foundation that I enable people to feel at ease, to promote optimal learning to consolidate change.

The recent pandemic years have presented further challenges to an already busy and demanding pace of life. The playing field is regularly tilted, and it is easy to feel unhinged. However, the knowledge and skills needed to build and maintain resilience in these, and indeed any time of life can be simple and easily accessible. When we have a grasp on this, we can get on with living a life that is rich and meaningful, even through the hard times. I’m here to support individuals thrive as team leaders or members, achieve professional goals, and find balance in work and life.
